Walking through a challenging or difficult season of life can be overwhelming and discouraging.  Finding the right person with whom to walk through this season shouldn’t be.  As a counselling intern at The Therapy Place, I hope to be your “walking companion”, as you navigate the hills and valleys of the journey on which you find yourself.  I approach work with my clients from trauma-informed and person-centered perspectives, keeping clients and their journey centred in our therapeutic relationship.  I am here to provide a mirror to you, letting you see strength where you thought there was none, hope in dark times, and future potential where you saw failure.

I have worked as a youth and family counsellor at a local agency for the better part of the last decade.  In this role, I supported parents as they navigated the teens years with their children and provided a variety tools and skills to support their relationship.  I have advanced training in Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and draw on Bowen family systems approaches in working with families and individuals.  In this role I had the opportunity to walk alongside individuals, couples, and families as they uncovered new knowledge, and skills, changed longstanding patterns, and adapted their approach to whatever difficulty they were facing.
