Art has long been a powerful way to express emotions and explore the inner self. Now, you can take that a step further with our new Art Therapy Sessions led by Lydia Weisner, a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

We're super excited to add this powerful and transformative service modality to our clinic, and to Nanaimo.

Whether for a child, teen, or adult, art therapy offers a unique path to improve mental health and emotional well-being. Bonus: these sessions are eligible for reimbursement with most insurance companies, making this healing journey accessible to many.

How Art Therapy Supports Mental Health and Emotional Well-being

Art therapy combines creative expression with psychological support. It helps people communicate feelings that might be difficult to put into words. This form of therapy encourages self-discovery, reduces stress, and promotes emotional healing. It's also a great way for those with neurodivergent minds to express themselves.

  • Express emotions safely: Art provides a non-verbal outlet for feelings like anxiety, sadness, or anger.

  • Build self-awareness: Creating art helps you understand your thoughts and emotions better.

  • Improve coping skills: Engaging in art can reduce stress and increase relaxation.

  • Boost confidence: Completing art projects fosters a sense of achievement and self-esteem.

  • Enhance communication: Art therapy can improve how you express yourself in daily life.

Research shows that art therapy can be especially helpful for people dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. It also supports personal growth and resilience.
