The Therapy Place Counselling Group is a growing team of counsellors located in downtown Nanaimo, BC. Our hub is a flexible and fun place to work, learn, connect, and grow! ​ ​We have an opening for one full time counsellor.

 

The successful candidate must have experience working with individuals and couples in a clinical counselling capacity. ​ Applicants must possess a minimum Masters degree in Arts, Counselling, Education (EdPsych), Nursing, or Social Work, and be eligible for registration with either the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), the College of Psychologists of BC (CPBC) or the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW). This is a contract position (associateship), with a fixed percentage per session.

 

Contracted counsellors are provided with a comfortable, fully furnished office, clients, advertising, business cards, internet, a computer, email addresses, a dedicated phone number, etc. Contractors must be capable of working largely unsupervised, averaging 5 sessions per day, and must possess a degree of proficiency with computers (especially word processing and email.) They would also need to be able to learn our web-based Client Records Management System, "Jane".

 

We are ideally looking for counsellors with a minimum of 3 years of experience post-graduation. Hours are flexible (you can largely set your own schedule between the hours of 9am and 9pm), but contractors would ideally be available to provide at least a few session slots outside of regular working hours for the first few weeks/months of the contract.

 

This is to assure service availability to clients/families that are unable to take time off work during the Monday-Friday workweek. ​ While some of our clients do prefer online sessions, this position is available only to clinicians available to work in person at our downtown Nanaimo clinic. (i.e. those applicants wishing to provide video sessions from a remote location off island need not apply). ​

 

The Therapy Place Counselling Group can provide no guarantee of minimum hours/pay; however, contractors can likely expect a minimum of 25 client hours per week within a few weeks of starting.

Expected Income: $94,000 - $114,500 per year ​
