Here for your next steps
As a therapist, I strive to create a space that is welcoming and supportive for you to feel heard and valued. I recognize that you are the expert of your own story and I am honored to work with each client in such a meaningful way.
My approach to counselling consists of weaving several evidenced-based therapies together in practice to best fit your individual needs. I blend elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness. I also have experience working with neurodivergent adults and their families by supporting a new diagnosis and skill building.
Before I was a therapist I worked as a Registered Dietitian that specialized in eating disorders. Although I am not practicing as a dietitian at The Therapy Place, I bring a non-judgmental, body-affirming lens to my practice that teaches a person to build self-compassion, confidence and body acceptance into their daily life. I will be supporting people with disordered eating and certain eating disorders in current practice.
Beyond my professional identity, I wear a few different hats. I am a proud former university athlete in volleyball and a devoted dog owner to my lab Jinx. Activity is a large part of my life and I enjoy exploring new trails around Vancouver Island or participating in different recreational sport leagues in Nanaimo.
I am currently accepting new clients and would love the opportunity to work with you. Please use the booking link below to book a session or contact me through email at kaitlyn@therapyplace.ca
